As the video indicates, Uncanny Automator is an automation tool that allows you to build recipes (also known as \"workflows\") consisting of triggers and actions spanning your plugins, other WordPress actions, and even other websites. It is compatible with WooCommerce but is not limited to it. Nor would you want it to be, as the more functionality that a workflow tool can access, the more powerful it is.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

At this point, we'd normally jump into a plugin's features, but workflow tools can be a little abstract if you haven't used one, so we're going to do a quick walk-through instead.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Taking Uncanny Automator for a Quick Walk-through<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In this scenario, we're going to use Uncanny Automator to detect when a visitor has viewed any product page and then send an email to the administrator. This is not a practical scenario but it is simple and should demonstrate several key principles.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If you want to follow along, visit our online sandbox at https:\/\/www.wpallimport.com\/try<\/a>. Select WooCommerce Store<\/strong> as the type of WordPress site, then click the Create Sandbox<\/strong> button.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The sandbox will open the WordPress Admin interface. Follow these steps:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  1. In the main menu, click Plugins<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  2. At the top of the Plugins<\/strong> page, click the Add New<\/strong> button.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  3. On the Add Plugins<\/strong> page, search for \"uncanny automator\". This will bring up several options. Install and activate the one titled, \"Uncanny Automator \u2013 Automate everything with the no-code Automation tool for WordPress\".<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  4. You should now see a new Automator<\/strong> main menu item with multiple submenu items.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  5. From among these submenu items, click Add New<\/strong>. This is how you create a new recipe. Uncanny Automator should respond with the following screen:<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n

    1. Choose the Everyone <\/strong>option and click the Confirm<\/strong> button. This will bring you to the Edit recipe<\/strong> screen.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    2. In the Add title<\/strong> field, type \"Product View Recipe\".<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    3. In the Trigger<\/strong> section, click WordPress<\/strong>. This will bring up a list of options. Click the A specific type of post is viewed<\/strong> option.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    4. In the Post type<\/strong>s selection box, scroll to the bottom and choose Product<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    5. Click the Save<\/strong> button.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    6. In the Actions<\/strong> section, click Add action<\/strong>. This will bring up numerous integration partners. Click WordPress<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    7. Uncanny Automator will now display a list of possible actions. Scroll down and select Send an email<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    8. This will bring up the Actions<\/strong> page for sending emails.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    9. Leave the From<\/strong> and From name<\/strong> fields as they are.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    10. Enter an email address in the To<\/strong> field. This can be a fake email address but it should be formatted correctly.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    11. Enter \"Automator Test\" in the Subject<\/strong> and Body<\/strong> fields.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    12. Click the Save<\/strong> button. When you do this, Uncanny Automator will return you to the Edit recipe<\/strong> screen.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    13. On the right-hand side, beside the Move to trash<\/strong> link, make sure that the status indicator is set to Live<\/strong>.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
